Diary Entry – March 2025

There’s something magical about Morecambe when it lights up after dark.

I was commissioned to capture the energy and colour of this year's Seafront Festival – a celebration of light, music, funfairs, and family. My brief was simple: bring the story of the night to life from above and give the town something to remember.

Armed with my drone and camera, I arrived early to plan flight paths and scout the best vantage points. What followed was an exhilarating session of aerial photography over a packed promenade glowing with rainbow path lights, buzzing carnival rides, and waves of people soaking in the atmosphere.

From the bold neon reflections dancing off wet roads to the view of the lit-up promenade stretching along the shore like a rainbow carpet, every angle told a different story. I timed each drone shot with crowd movement and ride activity to capture the pulse of the night — fast, bright, and full of life.

These weren’t just shots for promotion; they were moments for the community. My goal was to create aerial visuals that feel alive, not just observed. I wanted the town to look at these images and feel pride, nostalgia, and connection.

The feedback from organisers and local businesses was overwhelming. The content is now being used in promotional material for Morecambe tourism, and I’m honoured to have played a part in showcasing the town’s charm from a new perspective.
